Good Days and a Move

-Written by Anna-

We have had three ‘good’ days! Mom never feels well but the nausea and pain have been manageable and she has been able to push through her therapies like a champ. She has impressed all the therapists and amazed us this week! Some of our Ebenezers this week:

  • She sat up with minimal support for forty minutes
  • She walked/shuffled the length of the parallel bars (with support)three times
  • She continues to improve in her swallowing and is able to eat faster and easier

We all responded “Wow” to Dad’s text this morning reporting some of her accomplishments. He reminded us in his clever way that ‘wow’ turned upside down spells ‘mom.’ It made us all smile! It is true, she amazes us every day.

In all likelihood we are moving to another facility tomorrow. Still a couple of hoops to go through but if all goes according to plan the ambulance will come for Mom at 3 pm. While we are sad to leave the familiar and all the great nurses and therapists here we are so grateful for the gift we have been given in the unexpected extra week and a half here. Mom is apprehensive about the move (I can certainly understand the anxiety!) but we have heard from several that this is a good facility and we are thankful that a bed is still open and for this option for our next step.

Some ways you can pray:

  • Pray that Mom would continue to take steps forward
  • Pray for relief from severe headaches she has been having at night
  • Pray for peace as we transition
  • Pray for Dad and me as we figure out a new place and a new routine.

Thank you for your love and prayers! We have been honored to read your requests and pray for some of you! What a gift to look outside of our own situation and feelings and lift others to Jesus!

  5. My precious friend,
My heart explodes with joy each time I read an Ebeneezer!! I would love to be here to hug your neck daily ( although that may be contraindicated by your doc at this time! 😉)
Jamie and I …and out entire church..are praying for you and your family.
And speaking of your family – oh what a great job you’ve done! You KNEW when you chose Stan that he would be by your side along life’s journey, and he has been there and more!
We used to call him “Stan the Man” back in the day! Remember that? Well, Stan…you ARE the MAN!
The devotion and love you have for each other is admirable and so very heartwarming!
Katy, your children ( sorry kids, but I guess Mom’s never get over using that word!) are remarkable in every way! What a blessing beyond description!
God is using your family in miraculous ways. I love you, Katy.
You can absolutely count on our prayers and know we are addressing each request to our Lord.

  6. A praise! I have been praying for years for a solid relationship with a Christian woman for Joy. I believe He has answered as she gets to know the mom of Abbey’s best friend at preschool. They attend Grace Latham.

Pls pray that God will lessen the distance that yet is there for Heidi and I. And that God will bring believers across Heidi and Justin’s paths, salvation and that God will work in Rowan and Soter’s lives to make them boys/men after His heart.

  12. We are so thankful to God for providing a new “home” for Katy now, a place where she can stretch, grow stronger, and receive great care on her road to recovery. God knows where the best place is and we trust Him for that. Praising God for your family’s strong testimony of God’s love. WE know how hard this is for everyone, and ask for grace and strength for all.

  18. We were waiting to hear from you and are so thankful for more steps forward. The headaches are defeating, especially in the dark of night. Please Jesus give our awesome sister in Christ relief from these headaches. We will be praying continuously about this and the move tomorrow. IT is such a blessing to know that you ALL know Jesus, so we know that nothing can separate you all from His love and care, 8we are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not despairing; 9persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; 10always carrying about in the body the dying of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body (2 Corinthians 4) He has the final victory and I am so glad. One of my favorite hymns is “Victory in Jesus”

  19. I dreamed that a friend and I were visiting Katy and she was sitting up and tried to walk some. She fell a little and laughed, which made us laugh. Then I awoke and thought “no, she couldn’t do that”, but I just read this (posted the day after my dream) and realized that maybe it IS possible. Thank you for your updates!
