Delays, snow storms, and encouragements

I keep thinking we will hear from insurance and I can send out a full report. But every day an ambulance is ordered and even rescheduled multiple times only to never hear from the insurance and eventually be canceled. Our poor case manager and my dad have spent countless hours working to find an answer but here we are still waiting a week after our appeal was sent. However, we trust that the Lord is in even this frustrating delay and are grateful to be receiving good care while we wait. The stress of such a big move and the unknown has been hard on Mom but she continues to trust the Lord in this area as well.
We have had some small reprieves from nausea but it continues to be our main battle and prayer request. We have been trying different things and decreasing some meds that may have nausea as a side effect. Would you pray for protection for her as we seek to find the right balance of blood pressure, anti-seizure, pain and nausea meds and for wisdom for the doctors and nurses as they care for her. Pray for no physical set backs of any kind! It’s amazing the progress she makes in therapy when she is not feeling miserable. We would love for the Lord to have mercy and grant her some real relief!
KY is preparing to be hit by a fairly major winter storm.  Would you pray that we would not have to move in the midst of it? Would you pray for safety and wisdom as we drive back and forth?

A verse that has been ministering to us is 2 Tim. 4:17: “The Lord stood by my side and gave me strength, so that through me the message might be fully proclaimed…”  Just like the Lord did for Paul in his final days in a prison cell, Jesus stands at Mom’s side even when she can’t stand on her own and He alone gives her the strength to do the impossible each and every day. And He does this not so that anyone thinks more highly of her but so that through her the Gospel can be fully proclaimed. The message of the cross and the power of God is maybe best proclaimed from a prison cell or a hospital bed.

Thank you for your continued prayers for us on this long journey.

  1. Our prayers are continually with all of you. Know that the prompting of the Lord comes various times throughout the day — not with pity, but with praise of how we see the Lord using this for His glory. So glad you guys can all be together even during this waiting period. Love you much. Will continue to pray.

  2. God is working and HIS Timing is always for our best, even when we cannot understand all the delays and changes… Waiting is so hard for us…but so often God’s path for us leads to “waiting.” During those tImes we really learn to TRUST HIM MORE. May you know HIS PEACE and HIS COMFORT during these difficult days… Praying. Love, Mary

  4. I, and one of my granddaughters in particular (Abigail), have been praying for Katy EVERY DAY! We haven’t been adding to what must be the massive increased message flow.

We would want you to relax and understand that God is working in the insurance delay as well! Every day there is no movement out of therapy, there continues to be the excellent professional care that you appreciate. Enjoy what God is providing in the delays as He prepares prepares the way for the next steps for each of you. With you in His Service, Harmon Taylor

Praying for the nauseous episodes to subside and for the insurance to come through in His timing and according to His plans for Katy’s recovery. Praying for strength and encouragement for all of you.

  12. So frustrating to deal with insurance as a patient or as a provider! I trust Katy will not have to relocate in the midst of the storm, but when the time comes, that you all will feel more ready for it. I will even pray the storm hits us instead (I like snow). The nausea………so incapacitating! Will pray for the right combo of meds to alleviate this obstacle to faster recovery. ❤

  16. Thank you for allowing us the privilege of walking this journey with you. Your sharing blesses and challenges us. It also moves our hearts to keep praying. Tonight I thought of Katy when reading
2 Cor. 4:18 NLT. “So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.”

  18. I feel very privileged to pray daily for Katy and your family. Your updates are inspiring, and I am encouraged to hear of the progress that has been made. I know you all must be feeling a great deal of frustration and anxiety with all the issues with insurance, medication, and even the weather. I am praying right now for God to bring relief and show mercy with the nausea. I also pray the best decisions will be made by all the doctors, nurses, therapists, and insurance providers.
I pray you and your dad stay safe in the storm and that no move will have to be made in the middle of it. I pray also for a good night of rest tonight. I will continue to pray for all of you today and in the days ahead.

  19. Dear Katy and family,
Though I don’t know you, I have had the privilege of getting to know Anna a bit at BFA. We are missing Anna here, but God has provided teachers to take her place this semester. We will miss her sweet spirit at the middle school. Still, she is in the right place being with you at this time. Many here are also praying for you and your family. The verse of the year for protestant churches in Germany is Isaiah 66:13. May you daily experience God’s comforting (like that of a mother).

  20. God you are in all of these, I pray your grace be sufficient for Katy because you are God of all comfort and compassion. For Anna and Stan may the peace of Christ guard your hearts and renewed your strength as you provide care, move back and forth and make choices. That the storm will not overtake you in any and every situation, the lord will hold in the hallow of His hand in the storm. I pray that any condition that contributes to complicate the present situation be stilled for the sake of His name and glory.
We have mobilize a team here to continue raising their supplications on your behave

  21. Dear Katy, Stan and Anna, oh how God is using you in this time of trial to witness to us. Your posts, Anna, have struck my heart each time and even though I pray each day for you and your family, I am given specific ways to pray. Thank you for letting God use you in this very visable way.
