Today we felt like we are kinda on hold. Paused. There were no major setbacks and no steps forward…just paused in time. She was mostly non-alert today but also not fully sleeping. It was a day of fitful sleep and moans. She’s really not talking at all today, which makes us sad. But all the doctors reassure us that this is somewhat “normal” after a day like yesterday.
Today she is fighting a low grade fever but started antibiotics for the UTI – we are hoping this helps. She also seems to just be itching all over…the nurses are looking into that now. She is so very uncomfortable but there are no major changes.
We praise God for no setbacks but continue to ask Him for turned corners!
My Dad says, “just as rests are part of great music, so we are going to accept today as a pause in a beautiful symphony God is writing.”

The second line of this hymn describes the love of Jesus as “vast, unmeasured, boundless, free.” In our finite, physical world, it is difficult to genuinely comprehend this concept. The ocean is the largest thing on earth. Its deepest point is deeper than the highest mountain on earth, yet God’s love is deeper still. From any point on the coast, we can see just a small fraction of the sea. We know that the vast ocean has boundaries, but God’s love is boundless.

Just caught up on all your updates (we’ve had family here the past few days.) Praising God for no setbacks today, a day of rest, a day of waiting, and a day to be still. Our thoughts are with you all as we cry out to God to heal Katy and ask for His strength. (A thought I had, can Katy listen to music? When Rick was in the hospital and was unable to communicate, I brought in my iPod and sometimes my laptop, along with headphones so he could listen to Christian music. May God’s words whether through scripture and / or music minister to each of you!!) Sending our love and prayers!

Praying for you dear Katy! We are thinking about you constantly here at Loudonville- and so many are lifting up prayers steadfastly. We love you and are with you in hoping that you will turn this corner for the better, very very soon! Romans 15 says:13 Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” We pray this prayer for all of you- hang in there and thank you so much for the updates- they help us to know how to pray and it makes us feel closer. Today’s message at church was praying and trusting God even when you don’t see hope now you will in the future. I thought of you all and trust God has a plan.

For now, for a little while, we weep. Together we ache with longing for God’s healing touch.
We are at a loss for words.
“…but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.”
We hope with you, wait with you, persevere with you. And we eagerly anticipate when we will rejoice with you.

It reminds me of Katy’s oft-encouraged message of “living in the tension” – as in Ephesians 6:13, “… having done all, to stand firm.” It’s neither a position of offense or defense, but one of knowing that the battle belongs to the Lord. May His peace guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus …

Praying, praying, praying. Asking the Lord for strength for all of you as you walk this very difficult path. Know that we are lifting you up before the Lord and that even in the pause (especially in the pause) God is at work. We love you all.

Your Dad’s comment about the pause in the music is a beautiful comment; full of hope and faith. Tim and I are praying for all of you each day. Thank you for giving us a little window into Katy’s day- I waited to hear. And pray now that after the day’s ‘pause’ she will be more comfortable tomorrow. It made me think of the times the battle raged on in AFG but no change in the front line. Tomorrow I pray that Katy’s body will win the battle over the itchiness and the general discomfort . May those antibodies really kick in tomorrow!

I will add fifteen years to your life,” Isaiah 38:5 Lord, send the shadow back.
